Overview

Dysport (abobotulinumtoxinA) is a botulinum toxin type A manufactured by Ipsen. It is a long-established, regulatory-approved neurotoxin used in both aesthetic and therapeutic settings, characterised by relatively smaller toxin complexes than conventional 900 kDa products. It is widely used for glabellar lines and a range of movement/spasticity indications.

How it works

AbobotulinumtoxinA blocks acetylcholine release at the neuromuscular junction by cleaving SNAP-25, temporarily relaxing the injected muscle. The effect is dose-dependent and gradually reverses.

Indications

  • Glabellar (frown) lines
  • Crow's feet and forehead lines (aesthetic use)
  • Cervical dystonia
  • Upper and lower limb spasticity
  • Hyperhidrosis

Key features
