Overview
Metox is a Korean botulinum toxin type A injectable manufactured by Maypharm Co., Ltd., which markets it as a second-generation, vacuum-dried toxin. It is supplied in 100 unit and 200 unit vials and is intended for professional aesthetic use. It is not FDA-approved and is not marketed for sale in the United States.
How it works
Botulinum toxin type A binds to presynaptic cholinergic nerve terminals and cleaves the SNAP-25 protein, blocking acetylcholine release at the neuromuscular junction. This temporarily relaxes the injected muscle and softens dynamic lines. The effect is reversible over roughly 3-4 months as neuromuscular transmission recovers.

Composition

Usage & handling
Reconstitute with preservative-free 0.9% sterile saline before injection. As Metox is vacuum-dried rather than freeze-dried, the vial may appear nearly empty or show only a faint dried film; the full dose dissolves on reconstitution. Store unopened refrigerated at 2-8C; for trained practitioners.
