Muchcaine Plus Cream is the dual-anaesthetic version of the Muchcaine line, combining lidocaine 2.5% with prilocaine 2.5% in an EMLA-equivalent 5% formulation. How it works
Lidocaine and prilocaine are amide-type anaesthetics that reversibly block voltage-gated sodium channels in cutaneous nerve membranes. Mixed in roughly equal parts they form a eutectic mixture with a lower melting point, allowing more active drug to cross intact skin under occlusion; together the two agents extend the depth and duration of the numbing effect across the epidermis and superficial dermis.

Composition
Lidocaine 2.5% (25 mg/g) and prilocaine 2.5% (25 mg/g), a combined 5% dual-caine (EMLA-equivalent) eutectic cream.
Usage & handling
Apply a thick layer to intact skin and occlude for the manufacturer-stated contact time, typically longer than for high-strength single-agent lidocaine to allow the eutectic to establish. Respect maximum surface area and contact time to limit systemic absorption of both actives, and exercise caution in patients at risk of methaemoglobinaemia due to the prilocaine content. Remove fully before energy-based procedures; avoid broken or inflamed skin; professional use only.
