Neo-Cain Pro Cream (marketed as Neo Pro Cream) is the dual-anaesthetic variant of the Neo-Cain line, combining lidocaine 2.5% with prilocaine 2.5% in a eutectic-type formulation. The prilocaine component is intended to extend the depth and duration of anaesthesia versus a single-agent lidocaine cream, making it useful for longer or deeper procedures. How it works
Lidocaine and prilocaine are both amide-type anaesthetics that reversibly block voltage-gated sodium channels in cutaneous nerve endings. Combined in roughly equal parts they form a eutectic mixture with a lower melting point, allowing a higher proportion of active drug to penetrate intact skin under occlusion; the two agents together broaden and prolong the numbing effect through the epidermis and superficial dermis.

Composition
Lidocaine 2.5% (25 mg/g) and prilocaine 2.5% (25 mg/g), a combined 5% dual-caine eutectic-type cream.
Usage & handling
Apply a thick layer to intact skin and occlude for the manufacturer-stated contact time, which is typically longer for a eutectic 5% cream than for high-strength single-agent lidocaine. Observe maximum surface area and contact time to limit systemic absorption of both actives, and take particular care in patients at risk of methaemoglobinaemia given the prilocaine content. Remove completely before energy-based procedures; avoid broken or inflamed skin; professional use only.
