Overview

Newlux is a botulinum toxin type A injectable from South Korea's Medytox, launched in 2023 through a subsidiary and approved by Korea's MFDS. It is positioned as a premium, high-purity neurotoxin and is notable for being produced without animal-derived components, which is intended to reduce the risk of animal-antigen-related reactions. It is supplied as a lyophilised 100 unit vial.

How it works

Botulinum toxin type A binds to presynaptic cholinergic nerve terminals and cleaves the SNAP-25 protein, blocking acetylcholine release at the neuromuscular junction. This temporarily relaxes the target muscle and reduces dynamic wrinkling. The effect is reversible as nerve function recovers.
