Overview

This is sterile, preservative-free 0.9% sodium chloride (normal saline) solution for injection, used as a diluent in aesthetic practice. It is the standard reconstitution fluid for lyophilised botulinum toxin and is also used to reconstitute hyaluronidase. Preservative-free normal saline is the diluent specified by botulinum toxin manufacturers for reconstitution.

How it works

Reconstitution dissolves the vacuum-dried toxin (or lyophilised enzyme) into a measured volume of fluid, producing a solution of predictable concentration for accurate dosing. The isotonic 0.9% saline matches physiological osmolarity, and gentle mixing avoids the agitation that can denature the toxin protein.

Indications

  • Reconstitution of lyophilised botulinum toxin
  • Reconstitution of hyaluronidase for filler dissolution
  • Dilution of injectable solutions to a target concentration
  • Irrigation and flushing in minor procedures
  • Diluent for mesotherapy cocktails where appropriate

Key features

  • Sterile, preservative-free 0.9% sodium chloride
  • Isotonic diluent for injectable reconstitution
  • Standard diluent for botulinum toxin
  • Also used to reconstitute hyaluronidase
  • Convenient small-volume ampoule/vial format

Benefits

  • Enables accurate, reproducible toxin dilution
  • Preservative-free profile aligns with toxin labelling
  • Low-cost, essential consumable for injectable clinics
  • Supports flexible dilution ratios across protocols
  • Ubiquitous, easy-to-stock inventory item

Composition

Sodium chloride 0.9% (isotonic), sterile and preservative-free; commonly supplied in small-volume ampoules or vials (e.g. 2-10 mL).

Usage & handling

Use only sterile, preservative-free 0.9% saline for toxin reconstitution; preserved saline is generally avoided per manufacturer labelling. Introduce the diluent gently to prevent foaming or violent agitation. Single-use; reconstituted toxin should be used within the manufacturer's stated window (commonly within 24 hours).
